National CAMRA campaigns running at the moment include.....
*
HONEST PINT CAMPAIGN.
Getting what you pay for is a basic consumer right. When ordering a pint of beer, you should get exactly that - a full pint. At the moment, 8 out of every 10 pints sold are short measure.
Despite repeated promises, the Government has failed to act on short beer measures.

Write to your MP demanding the right to recieve what you have paid for!

GUEST BEER RIGHTS
A Guest Beer right would allow every pub to stock one cask conditioned beer of their choice. This would increase the variety available to the consumer , and attract new customers by increasing choice. It would also support small brewers, allowing them access to a market currently closed to them. 55% of people surveyed said they would like to see one local beer on offer in each pub.
How many pubs in Melton Mowbray offer local ales at the moment?

SMALL BREWERIES RELIEF
This was introduced in 2002, meaning that small brewers pay 50% less duty on the beer they produce.....the success of the measure can be seen by the fact that since 2002 there are 110 more small breweries in the UK!
The limit was raised to 60,000 hectolitres in 2004; Lib Dem MP Greg Mulholland is campaigning to have it raised to 200,000 hectolitres so that more breweries can benefit from the relief.
CAMRA supports the introduction of a phased increase in the level of relief up to 200,000 hectolitres.

SAVING PUBS
Planning permission is needed before a pub can be turned into a home, but it is not needed to demolish a pub or turn it into a shop or restaurant. CAMRA wants to prevent pubs being closed & demolished without planning permission. 84% of people surveyed regarded the pub as a vital part of their community.
Once a pub is demolished it is gone forever; CAMRA is campaigning for a change in the law so that planning permission is required for any change of use.
