MELTON MOWBRAY TOWN PUBS.

THE BOAT.  Real ale is always available, with two guests. The Boat has a traditional interior with many old photo's of the town and the local canal. No food is served.  GA

THE HARBOROUGH HOTEL. A comfortable free house which has up to eight constantly changing real ales, often from small breweries and often featuring a mild as well as Continental beers on draught. Food is served and accommodation is available. The leather sofas in the lounge are highly recommended! Two beer festivals are held, at Easter & Halloween.  F  A  CP  PT  GA

THE ANNE OF CLEVES.  An Everards pub which always has one or two guest ales available. Home cooked food is served. This is the oldest building in the town after the Church, and is full of character; it was part of Anne's divorce settlement, but sadly she never visited the town.

THE BLACK SWAN. This pub has begun to sell real ale, in the form of Old Speckled Hen- another all keg pub bites the dust!!

THE BURMESE CAT. The new landlord at this modern estate pub has introduced real ale, at the moment John Smith cask and Directors.  CP

THE CHERRY TREE.  Another modern pub away from the town centre, it has just been totally refurbished. It sells London Pride & Bass, and food is always available.  F  CP  G

THE FOX.  No real ale.

THE WHITE LION.  No real ale.

THE KINGS HEAD.  No real ale.

THE CROWN. With Melton's longest serving landlord, the Crown is a friendly & convenient town centre pub. Owned by Everards, it sells their beers plus one or two guests, and home cooked food is available.  F  GA

THE MASH TUB. Another town centre pub, the Mash Tub sells two real ales, often including a mild. It is owned by Banks's.  GA

THE HALF MOON. Adjacent to the Market Place, there are two hand pumps, one of which is Draught Bass.

THE WELBY. Out of town on the Nottingham road, it sells no real ale.

THE NOELS ARMS.  On Burton Street, the Noels serves real ale and has a good reputation for live music at weekends.

THE GENEROUS BRITON. One real ale is sold here.

THE GRAPES. One real ale pump, but sadly it is Greeene King IPA.

THE BRICKLAYERS ARMS.  In August 2007 the pub is closed; the Landlord is now steward at the Conservative Club. GA

THE GEORGE HOTEL. The George is conveniently placed in the town centre, and sells Pedigree & Banks's Bitter. Food is always available, as of course is accommodation.

THE CUTTING ROOM.  A modern pub utilising part of the Cinema building, it serves real ale on up to four pumps but not all are usuallly in use. POS Autumn 2007.   F  GA

THE KETTLEBY CROSS - Melton's new Wetherspoons, it has ten hand pumps plus bottled continental beers and real ciders. F  GA

THE MARKET TAVERN.  This is a bar serving Melton Cattle market, which has real ale when events are being held there.

THE MARQUIS OF GRANBY  An attractive stone built Everards pub on the main Grantham road, it sells the Everards range but no guests. The food is very reasonably priced.

THE ROYAL HORSESHOES  A picturesque thatched pub standing opposite the 'Marquess', it is a free house with four real ale pumps. There is an extensive menu, and the pub also does accommodation.  F  A  BUS CP

THE KINGS ARMS. A Greene King pub serving IPA, Abbot & Ruddles County. The pub serves home cooked food.  CP  F  GA

AB KETTLEBY
THE SUGAR LOAF. Selling four real ales, this recently refurbished pub is popular for eating out. It stands on the main Nottingham road.   F  CP  GA  BUS

WYMONDHAM.
THE BERKELEY ARMS. A large stone built pub in the village centre, it is a free house selling Greene King IPA, Pedigree, and a guest ale. Home cooked food is served.  CP  F  GA

SOMERBY
THE STILTON CHEESE  A popular pub for eating & drinking, it sells several real ales and a real cider, with Grainstore Tenfifty always available. The car park can be a challenge!

THE THREE CROWNS A large comfortable stone built pub on the main street, it serves four real ales and holds a Summer beer festival.  Food is available.  Sadly the pub is likely to close during 2008 & become a B&B.   GA  F

BURROUGH ON THE HILL
THE STAG AND HOUNDS.  The Stag sells real ale (Greene King IPA & Abbot) , but not from the Parish brewery which is in the pub yard - crazy! Home cooked food is served.  F  CP

THORPE SATCHVILLE
THE FOX. The Fox has a French restaurant attached, but still sells real ale in the small 'pub' part.......Pedigree & John Smiths on the last visit.

THE CARRINGTON ARMS  An Everards pub in a very attractive location, it has a skittle alley attached. Home cooked food is served.  F  G  CP

GREAT DALBY
THE ROYAL OAK.  This attractive old thatched pub serves real ale, but again it is GK IPA & Abbot. It is popular with diners.   F  CP  G

THE CHEYNEY ARMS.  Another Everards pub, it also serves food.   F  CP

ASFORDBY.
THE BLUE BELL.  Near the middle of this large village, it sells two real ales, Bombadier and one guest.  F  GA  BUS

THE HORSESHOES  Unusually for this area it is a Batemans pub, and sells XB plus one other beer that changes regularly.  BUS

THE FLYING CHILDERS  Named after a racehorse, this roadside pub has recently been refurbished, but is not one for the real ale seeker.  F  CP  BUS

THE BLACK HORSE  A popular village pub overlooking the attractive village green, it is a free house that serves four real ales incuding those from local breweries, and excellent home cooked food.  A former CAMRA Pub of the Season. F  GA  CP  G

THE BLUE BELL INN  A lovely thatched pub refurbished after a serious fire, it serves several real ales and home cooked food.  F  GA

THE BLUE DOG  The Branch Pub of the Year for 2006, the Blue Dog is everything a village pub should be, with four real ales and home cooked food. There is a beer festival every summer. Not easy to get to, but well worth the effort!  F  GA  PT  G   IN THE GOOD BEER GUIDE 2008
